Pioneering the Fight Against Global Warming through Innovative Thermal Battery
Isothermix, a pioneer in next generation sustainable energy solutions, was established in 2018 with the aim of developing solutions to better the planet in light of continued global warming.
Founded by Michel Boström alongside his long-term colleagues, George Maltabarow and Nicholas Handley, Isothermix focuses on developing eco-friendly solutions to combat global warming.
At the heart of Isothermix's efforts is their innovative ChillBank™ system. By leveraging Phase Change Materials (PCMs), Isothermix has successfully revolutionized thermal energy, offering market-ready solutions to contribute to a sustainable future.
Introducing Phase Change Materials (PCM) for Building Applications
Working in conjunction with the University of South Australia, Isothermix manufactures and licenses PCM-based products for use in commercial and residential buildings.
Development of PCMs for use in building applications has been discussed for more than thirty years, but progress has been held back by the thermo-physical properties of currently available PCM materials – particularly paraffin-based organic PCMs, which have low thermal conductivity, low thermal stability, low latent heat of fusion, high flammability and high cost.
Isothermix uses salt-hydrate PCMs, which are:
High thermal conductivity
High fire resistance
High latent heat of fusion
Low cost
Salt hydrates in the past have often been affected by sub-cooling and phase separation. Following years of research and development at the University of South Australia, these problems have been resolved in three salt-hydrate PCM mixes for 15°C, 22°C and 28°C, with more under development.
ChillBank™
ChillBank™ is the Isothermix thermal storage modular component storing approximately 50 kWh of coolth for rapid delivery on demand. It provides FREE energy storage considering the avoided cost!
